Mission
Vashon Artist Residency provides a diverse group of artists the time and space to create, the opportunity to engage with other residents and the experience of living and working amidst the ecology and community of Vashon Island.
Commitment to Equity
Equity, access, and inclusion are central to our mission at Vashon Artist Residency. We are committed to fostering a welcoming and respectful community for all, regardless of age, ability, ethnicity, race, religion, beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, nationality, geographic origin, or socioeconomic status. We strive to create an accessible, inclusive, and equitable experience for our applicants and residents and continuously seek new ways to advance this commitment.
Land Acknowledgement
Vashon Artist Residency acknowledges that we are on the traditional homeland of the Puyallup, Spuyalpabš, or S’Puyalupubsh, a Coast Salish tribe. We are grateful for their enduring stewardship of this land and are committed to amplifying the voices, experiences, and histories of Indigenous peoples here and beyond.
