What is the vaccination and case rate on Vashon Island?

Vashon Island has been efficient and effective in containing outbreaks and potential exposures as well as vaccinations and has served as a National model for rural and Tribal communities. Vashon Be Prepared provides additional resources and timely information about Vashon Island’s response to COVID-19.

Is it possible that my residency could be canceled or modified due to COVID-19 developments?

Yes, we reserve the right to change or alter our COVID-19 protocol. We reserve the right to modify, delay or cancel your residency for the safety of everyone involved.

Do I need to get vaccinated to participate in the Vashon Artist Residency?

Yes, you must submit evidence of full vaccination completed at least two weeks before your arrival date. We cannot facilitate vaccinations. For your own safety, we ask that residents receive all boosters for which they are eligible.

Do you require testing for residents?

We require each resident to take a rapid test within 24 hours of their arrival at the Residency. Only those with negative test results are allowed to attend the residency. Any resident who tests positive may coordinate attendance later in their session with the Residency staff.

Will I have to quarantine when I arrive?

No. If it becomes necessary, you will not have to quarantine according to the Washington State Guidelines.

Will there be testing while at the residency?

We currently do not test for COVID-19 at the residency. There is a testing site on the island if necessary and residents will be required to test if they develop symptoms as outlined by local and federal public health agencies.

Are the Executive Director and Residency Director fully vaccinated and boosted?

Yes.

Will I need to follow COVID-19 protocols the entire time I am at the Residency?

Yes, in an effort to keep all residents, staff and our community safe, we require all residents follow local and federal guidelines.

Will I be notified of any changes?
