Heather Dwyer promoted to Executive Director

Vashon Artist Residency is pleased to announce the promotion of Heather Dwyer to the position of Executive Director. Heather, a dedicated advocate for artists and a longstanding contributor to the region’s art community, will assume her new role effective immediately.

Heather Dwyer joined Vashon Artist Residency at the start of 2022, where she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to fostering an equitable and accessible residency program. Her passion for professional development for artists, combined with her knowledge of the local art community, has played a pivotal role in the organization's growth and impact.

As Executive Director, Heather will be responsible for overseeing the organization's day-to-day operations, developing strategic initiatives, and strengthening partnerships within the local, regional and international artist residency communities.

Founder Cathy Sarkowsky expresses enthusiasm about Heather's promotion, stating, "Heather has been an integral part of our organization's success, and we are confident that she will continue to improve and grow our residency experience for artists."

Heather brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously served as Residency Director and as a consultant and program manager for numerous regional arts institutions. Throughout her tenure, she has demonstrated a keen ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with artists and stakeholders. We look forward to the exciting advancements and innovative initiatives she will lead at Vashon Artist Residency.
