The Shed

The Shed expands Vashon Artist Residency’s capacity to host composers, musicians, and sound artists, as well as filmmakers, choreographers, theater artists, writers, and interdisciplinary creators working with sound.

This stand-alone, fully renovated 170-square-foot studio is purpose-built for sound-based work. Its walls, ceiling, and floor are constructed with high-quality soundproofing to block external noise, while interior sound-absorbing materials reduce echo and reverberation. Three impact-laminated windows and a door provide natural light and a view of the Salish Sea. Cork flooring and heating ensure the space remains warm and comfortable year-round.

The Shed is located up the gravel driveway from the parking area and is accessed by a short path and three stairs at the entrance.
